A critical body of studies have found toxins are one of the factors that cause the symptoms associated with a diagnosis of Parkinsons Disease. It is for this reason that detoxes are a treatment often recommended by health care professionals

Herbal Detoxes

What do herbal detoxes entail? What is involved when it comes to the physical sensations and outcomes? Here is a fascinating email account I received permission to post from Deborah.

Herbal Detoxes

I’ve been detoxing on herbs for 2 years now so detox pathways feel very familiar. I took 1/3 of my 300 mg dose, used a razor blade to cut the small white pill. Waited an hour to eat a light fruit snack. Fell asleep 9 pm. Awakened 11:45 feeling effervescent bubbling and zapping sensations between stomach and liver back and forth almost gurgling with an intermittent stab of pain lasting only a second. I knew then that the immune boost I got from LDN was working! Then the sensation moved up esophagus this took awhile and then bam center of my brain. Internal brain tremors started as I calmly observed smiling at the work being accomplished. I didn’t have an early or heavy schedule so I just relaxed about sleep. I’ve been detoxing on herbs for 2 yrs now so detox pathways feel very familiar. I took 1/3 of my 300 mg dose, used a razor blade to cut the small white pill. Waited an hour to eat a light fruit snack. Fell asleep 9 pm. Internal brain tremors started as I calmly observed smiling at the work being accomplished. I didn’t have an early or heavy schedule so I just relaxed about sleep.

Fever kicked in for about a minute then gone! Zapping and bubbling continued moving arm, shoulder started tremoring furiously then stopped, then back to liver, stomach, another momentary fever and I fell asleep again. Woke 4:45 ran to bathroom with diarrhea. Went back to bad this time explosive diarrhea. Showered and cleaned lay down again feeling crazy head sensations, center the to ears, sinuses then skull. No more sleep just rest. The detox pathways just covered areas covered by vagus nerve, which interfaces with parasympathetic control of the heart and digestive tract. Oh yeah sensations went to my heart and a slightly longer fever persisted then faded. Don’t feel great this morning but ready to continue this battle to recover, thinking of possibly reducing dose to 75 mg as I’m not in a hurry. Recovery is a journey not a race and if too many pathogens are killed the toxic load is too much for the body to release. In that case it just recirculates through the body spreading more disease and we don’t want that!So why so many pathogens in my body? In a word trauma. From the age of eight and up I have had many episodes of disassociation. Where fear exacerbated by abusive circumstances of which I had no control had me(my consciousness) completely leave my body. This is when the immune system turns off and the body stores the trauma in a cellular level. Only to repeat it over and over. The immune system went into shock and now as pathogens move thru the body, the way they do, the immune system asleep at the wheel allows pathogens to start nesting eventually to take over if not reversed.”

How to Detox Aluminum from your Body

How can I detox Aluminum from my body? My doctor says that my Parkinson’s symptoms may be due in part to the presence of aluminum in my body.

Talk with your doctor about the possibility of using the following substances to reduce your toxic load of aluminum which may be hanging out in the folds of your brain. Some studies suggest that they can facilitate the release of aluminum in the brain.

Chelates that Detox Aluminum

  • Magnesium citramate. Magnesium reduces brain levels of mercury and the citramate. combination of citrate and malate, has been shown to significantly stimulate elimination of aluminum from the body.
  • Ascorbates (as magnesium or calcium ascorbate). A study found ascorbate to be a very effective chelator of aluminum, especially when the aluminum was bound to brain cell DNA. Taking higher doses of ascorbate with the magnesium citramate increased the removal of aluminum even more.
  • Malate. Malate was shown to be one of the more effective aluminum chelators for the brain. Pyruvate (as calcium pyruvate). Pyruvate has been shown to effectively prevent aluminum absorption.
  • Flavonoids. Eat a lot of fresh vegetables. Supplements containing flavonoids, such as quercetin and hesperidin, also prevent aluminum absorption. Chlorella helps remove mercury and lead and may remove aluminum. These supplements are in addition to the antioxidant vitamins you normally take.

Permit me to also point out that the goal here is to get the bad stuff out of the body. It seems to me to be a bit problematic to achieve this noble goal by putting more stuff into your body. Another option that I actually prefer is to focus on cleaning the primary elimination organs of the body so that your body can do the work of detoxing.

There are too many roadblocks in the body: the kidney and large intestine are likely loaded with too many toxic substances. Instead of focusing on one toxin, step back and focus on strengthening your body’s ability to do the work of detoxing itself. If you are like most people, aluminum is just one of many other toxins that are interfering with the normal function of all systems in your body – especially the neurological system.

Toxins and Parkinsons

I have noticed that when I drink more water I begin to feel really lousy. I get more headaches, have low energy and feel like I have the flu. Parkinson’s symptoms are problematic as it is – and now this. I there a connection between toxins and Parkinsons?

Response:

I suspect you may be experiencing a huge detox effect from becoming better hydrated. The symptoms you list are all the symptoms that are typical of detoxes. Toxins may well be the pest causing the neurological problems you currently experience. Is there a connection between toxins and Parkinsons? The research clearly concludes the answer is yes.

You might consider getting an assessment of toxins of some sort or another – perhaps bioenergetic testing or voice analysis or hair analysis. You may have already had some assessments done – but they might not have picked up the true culprit which can show in the form of heavy metals of one type of another or pesticides. I aired a radio show with Dr. Joe Hickey, MD, several months ago who offered some fascinating perspectives on diagnostic assessments for heavy metals and detox protocols that succeed for people with Parkinson’s.

If the diagnostic assessments show toxins – then a strategy would be to set in motion a detox program to release toxins gradually and safely. The hydration is obviously a key but some toxins need a little extra nudge to leave your body. They do not exit willingly unless gently encouraged.

If the nudge is too aggressive you can pay dearly for the consequences. You certainly want to be rid of the toxins, but not at the expense of feeling lousy for months on end.

I have received a number of reports from people who report a worsening of symptoms when their detox programs are begun. This may be due to an inadvisable protocol or to a detox program that is too aggressive. It is best to proceed with detox programs slowly. Do not expect immediate relief.

Or they may simply be seriously dehydrated. Naturopath John Coleman ND recommends taking the Aquas which were formulated to hydrate the body.

People often assume that because they are feeling worse, the detox program is making the situation worse. They thus decide to abandon the detox program. Instead of giving up, I suggest that you recognize that toxins are an issue. Search for another detox protocol that offers a more gentle release.

Parkinsons Recovery Happens Day By Day: People Get Better

Parkinsons Recovery– People Get Better

I am a recently joined member from England. I am so excited about finding your web site and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. There are no words to express my gratitude and excitement. I am really going to enjoy my recovery as it happens day by day. I have always had a little place inside me that says “I will figure this out”. Now I have found the way with your help and I have regained my drive. It is fantastic!

I have had definite symptoms for 12 years though I have been burdening my mind and body with severe stress for years, mistakenly believing I could handle anything. Then the oak tree collapsed: I was totally exhausted and had no idea. I have been taking requip for 5 years and sinemet for 18 months and am determined to get free of them. I know I will though I don’t know details of the how yet. Don’t worry I shall be very careful and I have a lot of support. I have learned that relationships are even more important than health.

The things I am doing NOW are:

listening to your radio shows lots of exercise, my dog gets 2 1hr walks per day in beautiful woodland exercise bike stretches and balancing listening to guided meditations really clean healthy diet lots and lots of water singing class nintendo wi writing out and reading poetry aloud eft feldenkrais recording my progress and activities and goals. my writing is loads better already hot and cold showering every day. The EFT Deft is HUGE for me.

I am not the person I was before my symptoms came along. The changes are quite staggering that actually I am a bit overwhelmed and confused. It has helped uncover something of the pay- off I get from having my symptoms – a mega breakthrough.

I found your site, actually the radio downloads on itunes 5 weeks ago and have improved so much already from really quite a bad place as the drugs were beginning not to work. They work well now. I have only stared eft in the last week

I was doing something of the above list before but now I have designed myself a programme which is a little bit strict and a little bit flexible. I have decided to stick to working with this before I look at supplements and more complex things. I want to give my body some time on the basics – good food, fresh air, mental stimulation, relaxation, fun etc. I have realized how sensitive I am at last. And I forgot to mention I have started detoxing my environment – so far I have junked all my toiletries for natural ones, and only have about 1/8 what I had before! Now I am working through the cleaning stuff. It feels so good.

I am 55 years young, have a great husband who doesn’t give me too much sympathy and does his own thing, yet is fantastically caring and I have 2 fantastic sons aged 24 and 27. I have a brother who I would do anything for and a sister that I value and love though I don’t have the same rapport with her.

I have just joined your membership pages today to continue my parkinsons recovery and it is great to get your emails. Encouragement is fab.

The crucial thing you have given me is the knowledge PEOPLE GET BETTER. Now I know that I am on my way.

With heartfelt thanks

Fiona

Heavy Metal Chelation

I heard the interview with Dr. Hickey. Very impressive. Some of the health care practitioners I have worked with specifically to rid my system of heavy metals all shy away from heavy metal chelation. I have used various highly touted products. The process is very slow and I am not sure that they are strong enough to pull the metals out of the deep tissue including the bones. In your opinion from all of your interviews and readings is intravenous chelation the most effective, the quickest way to get rid of metals in all body tissues including the central nervous system? My patience is at a low point.

Thank you for all you do.

Kevin

Response:

I have the same problem with impatience Kevin. Can’t this release of heavy metals happen now? Will heavy metal chelation do the trick? Unfortunately, the true answer is that it is likely to take time and patience.

Chelation simply means to claw out the heavy metals from the tissues and bones of your body. You put in your body something that has a positive charge. This attaches to the heavy metal which has a negative charge. The heavy metal toxin is eliminated through your liver, kidneys and bowels.

I have heard from a number of people on their experience with heavy metal chelation therapy. Some report positive results. Others report that the treatment was horrendous. It triggered a worsening of symptoms. I understand that most doctors (whether MDs or naturopaths) are very cautious in the chelations they prescribe for people who currently experience the symptoms of Parkinsons for this reason. This explains your own doctor’s hesitancy to use IV chelations.

I understand it is helpful to assess precisely what heavy metals are at issue in your body. Different chelating agents are needed depending on the metals that are at issue. I would suggest that you work with your doctors to assess which heavy metals in particular are problematic for you. As you now know from listening to my radio show with Dr. Hickey, there are serious issues with the current medical tests used to assess the presence of heavy metals.

I personally think the diagnostic tests that are most revealing are bioenergetic testing, hair analysis and voice profiling. I have interviewed experts who discuss the benefits and outcomes of all three diagnostic approaches.

Naturopath doctor Ivy Faber from Canton, Georgia has been a guest on my radio show who uses bioenergetic testing. She has done those tests on myself. They are really quite amazing. Compounding Pharmacist Randy Mentzer from Olympia, Washington discussed hair analysis for heavy metal testing during my radio show with him. Sharry Edwards has been a guest on my show several times. She diagnoses heavy metal toxicity using voice profiling.

In summary, if this were me, I would step back and go through a series of diagnostics using several assessments that are different than the tests that you have already had done as a reliability check. Once you know what you are dealing with, a chelation approach can be designed that will be effective. It may still take time and patience!

In summary – it is a process which can be slow, tedious and frustrating. In my personal opinion, everyone in a body should be chelating the toxins using one approach or another.

Hang in there. There are many approaches to detox. Some actually makes things worse. When you land on the chelation approach that works for your body, I predict you will be very pleased with the outcome.

Liver and Kidney Detoxes

Can Parkinson’s be caused by problems in either kidney or liver? If so, can liver and kidney detoxes help relieve tremors?

Gino

Response:

Research has shown that many of the symptoms associated with a diagnosis of Parkinsons Disease – and there are many – can be caused by toxins. The kidneys and liver get clogged up with a residue of toxins that create a formidable bottleneck in the elimination system. New toxins that enter the body have no where to go other than hide away inside the cells. Cells are a nice place to hang out.

My answer to your question is yes. Detoxes for everyone – those with a diagnosis of Parkinsons and those without – are a critical component of health and wellness. Think of detoxing your kidneys and liver to be the same chore as brushing your teeth. Both are necessary. Both need to be done on a regular basis.

Will a liver and kidney detoxes relieve tremors? The answer depends on whether you are also able to release the stress and trauma that may be trapped at the cellular level of your body. Toxins are impossible to release as long as trauma resides within the structural membrane of the cells.

Problems with Balance, Walking, Talking and Sweating

Question:

I still have a balance problem, a walking problem. Turning is also a problem – especially to the left, dryness in mouth, problem of pronunciation of some words while talking. excessive sweating at the left side of forehead is remarkable . I also feel pain at neck below head backside of ears.

Kindly help,

Sibnarayan
India

Response:

You have a series of symptoms which is typical of people who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. It is likely that the cause is multi-faceted.

First, there is an Ayurvedic doctor in India, Dr. Paneri from Gujarat, who sees people with Parkinson’s exclusively and is getting remarkable results. His website is: http://www.drpaneri.com

Second, check the side effects of the drugs you are taking. It is likely some of the problems you are experiencing may be simply the side effects of the drugs. You may want to talk with your doctor about adjusting your medications.

Third, I suggest that you focus your attention on finding doctors and health care practitioners who can help you detox the toxins in your body, I am guessing that toxins are a primary cause of your symptoms. You may well have an abundance of heavy metals and pesticides that have accumulated in your body.Once they are removed your symptoms may well subside.

There are many ways to detox – just check around and find an approach that appeals to you. I have been using zeolite personally with great success – but there are many other excellent methods that are effective as well.

You can get a wide variety of suggestions on detoxes from my new book which is described at: https://www.parkinsonsdisease.me

Heavy Metal Chelation for Parkinson’s

Just wanted to let you know that I have been testing for heavy metal for over 7 years now and nothing ever showed up on lab tests. I kept having a nagging feeling that a big part of my symptoms were caused from heavy metal poisoning, but I couldn’t get anyone to prove it. I have always believed there is a benefit of  getting heavy metal chelation for Parkinson’s.

I kept searching and found a naturopathic doctor who consented to another urine test, but this time he used the chelating agent MDSA to pull the metals out of my tissues.

The results confirmed my feeling of years. Extremely high levels of Mercury, Lead and Uranium. He said in all of his practice, he has never seen such high levels and promptly started me on a heavy metal chelation. I’m now on a two week regimen to support my organs from permanent damage prior to the chelation.

He said that while he can’t promise a definite correlation of symptoms and heavy metals, he does feel there is a huge relationship. He also so that he can’t promise complete relief of symptoms after chelation and removing these heavy metals from my body, but he said he feels confident that my symptoms will improve, and my symptoms shouldn’t worsen and my body should be allowed to heal, once the mercury is gone. He said that with my levels of metals, it may take up to a year to completely chelate.

I will keep you posted. I just thought you might be interested in knowing my most recent finding, and possibly an option for some of your other followers.

Again, thanks for all you do and continue to do. You are amazing! Such a gift to humanity, not only those with a PD diagnosis.

Take care,

Melanie

Thanks for the update Melanie on heavy metal chelation for Parkinson’s. I have my fingers crossed your symptoms will gradually improve.

Alternative Therapies for Parkinson’s Disease

What follows is a fascinating e mail I received from Brad about alternative therapies for Parkinson’s disease . He has kindly given me permission to post it here.

Robert Rodgers, Ph.D.
Founder 2004
Parkinsons Recovery
www.parkinsonsrecovery.com

I am still “in the closet”, so to speak, that is to say I have not publicly discussed my diagnosis. I am very new to this discovery as I received my diagnosis one year ago (at age 52). Sometimes I get “PD’ed” by strangers who notice my symptoms and ask (or tell) point blank that I “have Parkinson’s”, which I cannot evade. The only purpose for taking the currently available meds is to hide the condition from others during, say, public speaking or other event which might lead to  or embarrassment. The meds serve no other purpose, they do not treat any underlying condition whatsoever. I suspect this denial, or hiding from PD symptoms, is very psychologically damaging (Michael J. Fox treats this in depth in his books). It leads to over medicating and adds stress, thereby worsening the condition.

In my case, I was lead to believe that the use of L-Dopa would provide dramatic relief and thereby confirm the diagnosis (remember that PD is a “negative” diagnosis, that is, it is indicated by ruling out all other possible explanations, however, in reality this is impossible to do. So PD is labeled “idiopathic”, or of unknown causation). Instead of relief, absolutely nothing happened, except that I immediately worsened and developed new symptoms in addition to a multitude of side effects. My brain has resisted L-Dopa therapy over these twelve months. L-Dopa is only sporadically effective and is very hard to predict. It takes very high doses to alleviate all symptoms (briefly) and during periods of high stress (particularly social stress) it does not work at all. So I have made a conscious decision to minimize my use of L-Dopa and seek alternatives right from the start. Sometimes I go for days without medicating at all and my symptoms usually stay about the same or sometimes better.

Things I am doing that seem to help:

Continue to ride and race bicycles  I have had to give up certain types of racing that require extremely fine motor skills, but I ride with accomplished groups regularly, at least 5,000 miles per year. Balancing a bicycle utilizes different neural circuits from your center of gravity than balancing on your feet, so I actually cycle better than I stand or walk. Some medication is required to control dystonia and keep my “slow” leg in sync with my “fast” leg, but I have experienced symptom-free rides occasionally.

Continue serious weight training. Since lifting weights does not involve high speed movements, it is largely unaffected by the symptoms. I have always been very strong and have become even stronger with pd symptoms than I was previously.

All other forms of physical activity, such as stretching, hand and finger exercises, table tennis, hiking, walking, basketball, anything that involves motion.

Healthy food, water, and sleep/rest. Avoid all trauma and toxins insofar as possible. Drama-free social life, mental engagement and exercise, healthy spiritual practices. These seem to be so “common sense” that they may be overlooked, but the proof is in disrupting any one of these and the symptoms immediately worsen. Improve them, and they immediately get better. Simple.

Alternative therapies for Parkinson’s disease that I am trying or considering include mercury detox. This is very dangerous, because disturbing mercury in dental work and/or chelating mercury that has been bound to brain tissues for a long time can worsen matters by “stirring up” heavy metals that may then be reabsorbed or recirculated prior to elimination. A personal decision has to be made balancing the risk/possible benefits of this approach. It is too early to tell what impact this decision will have on me because I have only had mercury-free teeth for less than thirty days after more than thirty years. I do believe eventually mercury will be banned in dental work. There are better alternatives available. My dentist conceded only after agreeing that having already developed pd symptoms, the levels of mercury that may be safe for a normal healthy adult might not be appropriate for me.

Hypnotherapy is showing great promise. If nothing else, achieving relaxed states reduces stress. However, even western medicine recognizes “psychogenic Parkinson’s”, from which full recovery is possible. It distinguishes this from “real” or “organic” Parkinson’s which by definition precludes recovery. So if you recover, it must have been psychogenic and vice-versa, if you don’t recover it’s not psychogenic. This is circular reasoning. Self-observation proves that all PD is at least partially psychogenic. Besides, it is a Western assumption, wholly based on faith, that there is any real difference between the mind/spirit and body at all. There is plenty of evidence, including in Western science, that there is no difference. One cannot exist or be healthy without the other. During hypnotic states (basically that relaxed dreamy state just before falling asleep), observable symptoms abate. What more proof that these symptoms are controlled by mental states (or brain waves, if you will) is needed?

Long held attitudes and “belief systems” are hard to change but they clearly play a role in recovery. At home, we avoid using the term “disease” or even “Parkinson’s”, instead referring to “Mr. P” or “my condition” or “symptoms” because one thing is for sure, if for one minute, you believe that you will not recover, your prophecy will be self-fulfilled. On the other hand, if you believe improvement or recovery is possible (not guaranteed), then that will be true also. Cancer victims refer to “fighting” cancer, PD’ers often talk about “accepting” PD. While “accepting” oneself as one is or accepting the public acknowledgement of your symptoms may be helpful, the will to live (not mere survival, but living well) is the driving force behind recovery from any illness.

On the drawing board when it comes to alternative therapies for Parkinson’s disease is acupuncture. The brain is an electrical system. Western science proves this through DBS. DBS, however, is a crude and intrusive means of maintaining that system. Again, the website mentioned above details how electrical disruptions in other parts of the body (particularly the foot or ankle) may affect the brain. I had such a traumatic injury in which the tibia was fractured and did not “knit” after 99 days in a cast. Subsequently, a “TENS” unit was utilized passing an electrical current, night and day, for several months through the fracture. While this did cause an 80% “healing” of the bone to occur, there may have been electrical side effects unbeknownst to me from this therapy.

I realize that this is rather lengthy, but PD is a vastly complex and mysterious condition. This means there are a variety of alternative therapies for Parkinsons disease which can offer symptom relief. The mere lack of dopamine is neither its cause nor solution. I agree with you that the current scientific research will never result in a “cure” because there are a multiplicity of causes and therefore a multiplicity of “cures”.

I appreciate this opportunity to share my thoughts about alternative therapies for Parkinson’s disease. It has helped me be a little more organized in my own research and thinking. I do not yet know in what way my experience may be used to help others, but I will consider your idea. Thank you for your time and the work that you are doing.

Brad

Liver Detoxes

Toxin buildup in the body is one of the probable causes of PD. As we know, the liver is our body’s major waste converter. What do we do to keep the liver in top shape? Also, what is the best supplement to give the liver especially when one has PD?

Thank you,

Arsenio

The question you raise is critically important for persons with Parkinsons. Research has definitely shown that heavy metals and pesticides have a direct impact on the symptoms of Parkinsons. As you point out, the liver plays a huge role in this drama. The bowels and kidneys are also lead actors. I like to think of detoxing from the perspective of all the body’s elimination organs.

Perhaps the most important factor to a successful detox is better hydration. Many people are unaware they are dehydrated. If cells are not adequately hydrated, waste does not have a prayer of being eliminated regardless of the detox method you use.  John Coleman, ND recommends people used Aquas (www.aquas.us), a homeopathic remedy designed to help the body take in water and distribute it to the cells. Clearly, the intake of sufficient quantities of water is important.

I believe many people underestimate the value of colon cleanses. Regular colon cleanses can take the burden off the shoulders of the liver and kidneys.

Eating unprocessed foods also takes a huge burden off the liver. Fresh vegetables and pure water can do wonders for the liver. Some people with Parkinsons use a brief fast to cleanse the liver, though these decisions should of course be pursued under the close consultation of your doctor.

In part, the best detox method depends on the type of toxins that are present in the body. Testing can be done by a naturopath doctor or medical doctor to pinpoint the specific toxins that are present in the body. Naturopath Ivy Faber uses bioenergetic testing which scans the body for toxins and other problems :

Doctors also have tests to identify the presence of specific toxins that may be causing the symptoms. There are specific detox methods for specific toxins, so it really depends on the specifics. This is such a specialized area that some medical practices specialize in helping people detox their bodies.

By way of example, one detox method that can successfully remove heavy metals according to my interviews with doctors and other health professionals is zeolite, a substance that is derived from the ashes of volcanoes.

Zeolite and Parkinson’s

Congratulations on finishing Road to Recovery from Parkinsons Disease and thank you for making this available to those who are in need of help with the “charms” of PD. I have a question about Zeolite and Parkinson’s.

It has been 14 months since I was diagnosed and I shared this news with you when it was confirmed. My journey has made me try mirapex for l0 months which made me feel worse than the symptoms I had at the time mainly the fatigue. I stopped the mirapex three weeks ago and started amantadiine twice a day since then. I feel better being off of mirapex but I do not feel normal.  The fatigue has lifted somewhat, I can stay up longer hours however I am still slow in movement, bad handwriting, constipation, mask, left leg trembles at times, back pain when I walk. I do eat a healthy diet and keep a good attitude most of the time. I still drive a car but just locally, no long trips. I challenge my brain with reading, scrabble games, chess games and going out to lunch often.

My sister bought me some “Zeolite” to try to see if it will help me. I read some good things about it so far on the internet. It makes sense to me the reasoning to cleanse the body of toxins so that the body is enabled to heal itself. Your outline of your researched book makes ablot of sense to me and made the lightbulb in my head turn on!!! I am going to try the Zeolite starting Monday morning taking it in a glass of water three times a day dropping 10 drops of it each time. If you have any feedback you can share with me on Zeolite, I would appreciate it.

Terry

Response:

It is wonderful to hear from you and to learn more about your journey back to health.

Zeolite was highly recommended as a detox by one doctor I interviewed, Lyn Hanshew, MD which I discuss in Road to Recovery. Dr. Hanshew is convinced it will make a big difference to the symptoms of Parkinsons.

Doctors I have interviewed recommend that you detox very slowly. I have had a surprising number of phone calls from individuals who wound up in the emergency room because their detox regimen was too strong. If you experience symptoms after taking the drops consult with your doctor and consider reducing the number of drops taken each day.

Detoxes

Question:

How do you recommend we detox our bodies?

Bev

Response

Your question turns out to be huge indeed. I have used a naturopath doctor in Georgia (who I have actually never met in person), Ivy Faber. Ivy does bioenergetic testing to determine which toxins are problematic.
She then recommends the detox protocol to use.  I will be interviewing Ivy soon on the radio program so you can get a good idea of her approach by listening to the interview.

Naturopaths are great resources to help with detoxing. Herbalists have great resources, as are aromatherapists. Some medical doctors specialize in this area. Of course, exercise always helps the body to detox. Colon cleanses can be very useful as well.

In short, there are many, many possible approaches to consider. There are even detox programs that are designed to release specific toxins (like iron or other heavy metals).

I have actually tried different detoxes over the years which were purchased at food co-ops and health food stores. You can always tell if they are helpful because you begin to feel a lot better after several weeks.

Instead of doing a thorough review of alternatives, I ask my body through muscle testing which method I should use for now. The answer is often different depending on when I ask.

Muscle testing is the “quick and clean” method. I do not have to think as hard. I am into making things happen now.

Perhaps my way stems from my impatience.   Perhaps I am just lazy. But, muscle testing works well for me and happens to be my way of making decisions about detoxes my body needs.

In the big picture, I think what matters is to acknowledge toxins to be a challenge for everyone. We all need to detox at least every year if not every six months.

This is such a big issue I am writing a book which compiles the wisdom of the many people I have interviewed about how to release toxins from the body.

I will post your question on the blog to see if anyone else has a comment about methods they have used which were helpful.

Magnetic Clay Detox Baths

Question:

WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE ON DETOXING PEOPLE WITH PARKINSONS …DOES IT REALLY WORK? WHAT ABOUT THE MAGNETIC CLAY DETOX FOOT BATHS? DOES IT WORK?

GEORGE

Response

I have not seen detailed evidence on the effects of detoxing on Parkinson’s symptoms, but have a strong intuition that people are seeing results from detoxing. I personally believe we all need to do routine detoxes given the world that we live in today. We also know that there is a direct connection between toxins and the symptoms of Parkinsons.

I also do not have direct information about “magnetic clay” detoxes. There are so many possibilities out there these days. I do have a recommendation I am chasing after that sound intriguing – zeolite, which is a clay material from volcanic ash. I learned from a medical doctor last month that this is the one detox program that seems to work beautifully in her opinion. I am scheduling her on the radio program.

Detoxing Your Body

This is a letter that I received Memorial Day which I just received permission to post. It is certainly a powerful statement about the results that are possible with a detox program and a healthy diet.

I was diagnosed with advanced Parkinson’s Disease and if I believed in traditional allopathic medicine then I would have had little hope. I started researching on my own and was shocked at the information that is readily available to the public regarding industrial toxins and toxins that we ingest from pharmaceuticals. It is no surprise that physicians/hospitals/pharmaceuticals are the number one cause of death in the United States.Fortunately medicine is changing and medical schools are starting to segregate themselves from big pharma opting to teach healing and restoration of the body.

I no longer have any symptoms of Parkinson’s but I had to start at the basics, detoxing my body of harmful contaminants and toxic chemicals, that also including the poison that was prescribed for Parkinson’s which causes the very symptoms it is purported to relieve. To optimize my health I had to stop buying fruits and vegetable in regular grocery stores, instead I bought only organic fruits and vegetables including all groceries. MSG is in almost 75% of products sold in grocery stores although hidden under a different name, we ingest about one gallon of pesticides a year from buying fruits and vegetables from regular stores.

The heart of the matter is there is some action that we can take to better care for our health and that of our children. It requires that we educate ourselves from sources that are not self serving or radical, alternative medicine is filled with charlatans and can be every bit as harmful as the continued overuse of over the counter and prescription drugs.

There are physicians trained these days in the area of nutrition and using a combination of traditional medicine with medicine of the east commonly referred to as integrative medicine. In addition there is an emerging field of physicians that practice what is called functional medicine which believes at getting to the cause of the health issues rather then simply prescribing a medication to deal with the symptoms which invariably cause additional problems.

I actually don’t have much in the way of answers but do know that education and acting on what we know will improve the quality of our lives exponentially. I wish all of you a wonderful Memorial Weekend and God’s Peace.
